Veganism is bad for older folks – my take on it
Veganism is a religion, but not mine. Aside of that, it can be bad for older adults. Vegan diet is necessarily high carb, and is more tolerable and can be excused in young age. But for older folks it is bad, and leads to type 2 diabetes and eventually to dementia.
I follow low carb high fat diet. Minimize starchy vegetables and bread. Eat meat and fish, legumes cabbage and the like. Also nuts, which are high in healthy omega fats. Yoghurt of my own make, which has lactose sugar removed by bacteria.
I also supplement with glycine, NAC, creatine and taurine, magnesium and zinc. Vitamin D in winter. I wrote separately the reasons.
I do not take mega doses of vitamin C, as I did in the past. Just found out Vitamin C is competing with glucose in metabolism. Thus it is less needed in the low carb diet. I’ll be writing on this soon as I’ll research this more.
